Another Barnstormer

I had another hell fire argument with Dad this morning, they are becoming more frequent and something of a clichéd Freudian bore to be honest. His constant desire to direct my every move through life has gone beyond a joke and I’m becoming increasingly angry at his repetitious goading regarding what I should do after I finish Uni. I’d had a testing enough weekend as it was, what with driving to the Leeds letting agents, sorting out the final details regarding the shabbiest cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/teethwhitening.html could throw in my direction, my fault for not sorting it sooner but still! So returning to the constant barrage of ‘You’re not going off to volunteer in some South American village’ peppered with the usual rounds of ‘Carpe Diem!’, while the ‘iron’s hot, son’ etc, was a tad annoying although wholly expected. The truth is I genuinely do not have a clue what I wish to do after my studies, because the ominous ogre of my finals still blocks that path and threatens to give me a sound thrashing. I’m revising hard and know how important it is to plan, but I cannot see past these exams at present and I hope that eventually Dad is able to see that sometimes when he tries to help he actually hinders.

Psychological Impacts of Infertility, Tattoo and Hair Removal

Not being able to bear a child when desired places immense stress and suffering  on individuals and couples. Some of the feelings include a sense of powerlessness or loss of control, distress, depression, stigmatization and a feeling of incompleteness as an adult in comparison to other adults able to bear children.

People with infertility may strive for a sense of personalization because of these emotions. In some cultures, women select fertility tattoos to illustrate their journey in trying to conceive. Tattoos may be a personal expression of belief, of body and being, not necessarily just for identification, ego, trend or fandom.

Lasers therapy used in assisted reproduction for treating infertility, along with stress management and training for skills in coping, gives infertility patients hope not dissimilar to the meaning of a fertility tattoo. Body art is an expression of individuality, belonging, sexuality, and sense of empowerment that changes over time.

All these psychological responses are what drive ongoing research in laser and electrolytic removal methods, pigment composition, bio-compatible materials, labeling, and so on, and that lead to enhanced services like laser tattoo removal or laser hair removal. Removing a tattoo or excess hair can uplift an individual’s sense and expression of their person because of greater feelings of wellbeing.

The desire to improve the human condition and to address psychological responses leads to advanced technology for medical, cosmetic and aesthetic purposes. Demand for products and services depends on individuals’ personal circumstances, intents, desires, feelings and motivations when seeking treatments.

How do celebrities stay look so good

Is it true that all of the movie stars have at one point or another had a mini face lift? I’ve been reading this all over the internet on others’ blogs and rants talking about Jennifer Lopez and Madonna just to name a few. My friend Sabrina told me that it was most likely really expensive make up on Madonna, and not a macs facelift like I heard. I really do not care what kind of procedure they choose to go with, because they all look great having done it anyways. If it is just make up, then I’d like to know what kind so that I can wear it.

If it is some kind of face lift surgery, then more power to the fellow ladies. The ability for movie stars to retain their looks is something that I always thought went back farther than plastic surgery went anyways, but is this true? You have to think about a number of different things like the type of lighting that was used, the type of vintage film that they used to use, and a bunch of other things like that. maybe the images were kept up so well by the medium that they were on. It is not like we had Access Hollywood back in the 1940’s where we had much more graceful actresses grace the Red Carpet.

Now we are all subject to who ever won a contest for most pathetic American on a singing talent show, instead of majestic grandeur. I guess that maybe I am perpetuating the stereotype by even asking this question on my blog, and need to just leave mystery alone. Maybe not knowing is the most attractive part of the whole process anyways for us. Keep in mind that tv does add a bit of illusion!

Gum Contouring to fix that gummy smile

Apr 15
2010

Whether because of health problems or just a genetic trait, many people who have a gummy smile (where the gums grow too far up on the teeth, which can cause teeth to look unnaturally short) feel that it inhibits them socially, affects their self confidence and willingness to smile and generally makes them unhappy.  It is a commonly known fact that people who smile more are more likely to seem open and attractive to others and therefore will find it easier to develop personal relationships.

To those who haven’t lived with the condition the fact that it is not viewed as a major health concern may cause them to ask why it needs to be corrected, but anyone with a gummy smile can tell you just how much impact it has on their day to day life.  This is why so many Kent dentists now offer gum contouring or reshaping as a dental job to their patients with this condition.

Gum contouring is a painless procedure where the overgrowing gums are trimmed down using a scalpel which may or may not have a laser attachment which aids healing.  Once the gums have been cut back they are shaped to give a more natural appearance and then fixed in place to allow them to heal.

If necessary the bone in which the teeth sit can also be cut back which is just as simple for the dentist as the rest of the treatment, and you should check for things like tooth decay beforehand which may require a root canal or some other important treatment.

There may be some swelling after the dental treatment but this is easily dealt with and within a period of weeks the healing should be complete and the whole procedure done with.  Follow up whitening of teeth may be desirable to achieve the best possible smile.

What is a Dental Technician?:

Apr 06
2010

Does making models of teeth appeal to you? Do you like following directions in order to be able to create 3-dimensional objects? A Denture technician repairs, alters and manufactures dentures as well as other related devices pertaining to the dental field. They fill dentists’ prescriptions by creating full and partial dentures.Denture technicians don’t usually work with patients, unless they are qualified as both dentists and technicians.

A dentist orders appliances directly from the technician. Following the dentists’ orders the technician makes the proper appliance. Accompanying the prescription from a dentist (who specializes in dentures) usually comes a mould of a patient’s mouth and or tooth pattern. This is an extremely important step for the technician in order to help them create the proper fitted appliance. Since everyone’s teeth are shaped differently, it is important that the technician has the appropriate mould to work with. Once the mould is received by the technician, they begin creating a model of the patient’s mouth by pouring plaster into the impression and then giving it time to settle.

Once the mould is dried, it is set on an apparatus that imitates a person’s jaw, including it’s movement and bite. The model works as a base of the prosthetic device. The technician then examines the model, noting both shape and size of the teeth also taking into consideration the gaps in the gum-line. The final product is an exact remake of the person’s teeth.

Invisalign and modern orthodontics

Apr 04
2010

Orthodontics is an area of dentistry which is concerned with the positioning and alignment of the teeth.  Orthodontic treatments are very common, especially amongst teenagers. Orthodontic treatments help to improve the alignment and positioning of the teeth, making them look straighter, healthier and much more attractive. Many people suffer from crooked and twisted teeth, gaps between their teeth and missing teeth; orthodontic treatment can help to straighten teeth and improve the overall look and functioning of the teeth.

Why is orthodontic treatment necessary?

In most cases, orthodontic problems are caused by a problem with a patient’s bite; this is the way their upper and lower teeth fit together when the jaws are closed in a relaxed position. Patients may have an over bite, an under bite or a cross bite; problems with the bite may cause the teeth to gradually move out of position and may also contribute to difficulties with speaking and eating. Many people who have crooked teeth or gaps between their teeth feel very self-conscious about the way their teeth look when they smile; this can affect how they behave around other people and in a school or professional environment.

Which treatments are available?

Most people with orthodontic problems are treated using a brace; there are many different types of brace available nowadays and you should discuss which type of brace is best for you with your dentist. Dentists in essex offer a wide range of treatments, ranging from traditional fixed braces to Invisalign invisible braces and Damon braces. Once braces have been removed, patients are advised to wear a retainer to keep their teeth in place.

Do braces hurt?

Initially, it takes time to get used to wearing a brace and it may feel uncomfortable at first. Today, there are many different types of brace and some are much more comfortable than others; ask your dentist about the different types of braces available to you.

How long will I have to wear braces?

Treatment time varies considerably according to which treatment you have and the state of your teeth before treatment as well as the guidance of your dentist; most people wear braces for between 12 and 24 months but there are some treatments available that can produce results in as little as 16 weeks.

Dental implants; a lifetime of carefree teeth

Apr 01
2010

This method of replacing lost and damaged teeth is becoming very popular and fashionable. Once the long process of fitting them, and settling them in, is over you will probably forget that you have one or more artificial teeth. They are so different to dentures or a bridge that more and more people are choosing them. The research and test operations were carried out in the U.K. and at a Swedish university hospital in the 1950s and 60s. They discovered a natural process called Osseointergration that led to the process becoming possible. The most popular dental implants are called Endosteal Implants, the process allows the surgeon to insert the implants and then leave it to fuse into the jaw bone. The tests that a dentist needs to carry out first will determine if the patient has the necessary strong and wide jaw bone that is needed to take the fixings of the implant. If you pass the test, and most people do, then the long treatment will start. Firstly, the surgeon will cut into your gum line and slide the implant into place, and then they will fix it down using either self tapping screws or by drilling holes to drop and glue studs into that will be specially attached to the plate. The plate itself is made of titanium which is non-ferrous and hard wearing, helicopter parts are made from this material, as are pins that mend broken legs. The wound is then stitched up with micro stitches and the Osseointergration is allowed to take place, undisturbed. This is a fantastic piece of nature in action, the bone grows around the plate and it becomes part of the jaw, it is an artificial root for a tooth. It can take from three to six months to complete, but once done the dentist can move on to the next stage. This involves inserting the studs that the false tooth will eventually sit on, they are called abutments and one implant can hold one to several. They too are titanium and once in place the new teeth can be fitted to complete the treatment. The teeth are made by an orthodontist to order in accordance with the shape and measurements of the original tooth. It is then slid and glued onto the abutment and left to settle in over a few weeks. In that time the patient will need to get into a new routine of chewing their food.

What the Doctors may not tell you about Gastric Banding

Mar 30

Using gastric banding for weight loss is a procedure that has been done for over 40 years, however, all throughout that time; there has always been a fair share of potential complications that come along with this risky weight loss surgery. It is for that reason that most doctors or hospitals will not perform this surgery on anyone with a BMI or body mass index under 40. This is purely precautionary because some would try and take advantage of this procedure for recreational use. But even for those that quality for the gastric band surgery, there are a few things that doctors may or may not let you know about.

Among a long list of rarer complications, some of the more common ones include internal bleeding and infection. These two things are just as terrible as they sound. And, what is worse, they are the most common potential complications that may occur during or after the obesity surgery that takes place when implanting the gastric bands. Internal bleeding may occur as a result of the gastric band poking or prodding a weak part of the insides which can result in a small hole. This hole can let out a little blood at a time until it begins to expand. This can result in massive internal hemorrhaging and complications with multiple organs. Infection is more common still. This can occur if any type of bacterial is on the band before the doctors put it in. If this is the case, the insides will become infected which can lead to any number of additional complications with the rest of the anatomy. Make sure that you know all the possible side effects before deciding to go through this weight loss surgery.
